Waupaca Boatride US Open Volleyball Tournament

Bringing Mental Health to Center Court

Dragonfly Initiative was proud to join the Waupaca Boatride US Open Volleyball Tournament, where more than 3,900 teams gathered for one of the nation's premier grass volleyball events. Thanks to the tournament's commitment to athlete mental health, we connected with players, coaches, parents, families, and fans of all ages through meaningful conversations about resilience and mental wellness.

Throughout the weekend, we distributed educational resources and giveaways, interviewed athletes about the mental side of competition, and connected with organizations supporting children's mental health, adaptive sports, and other initiatives to expand our collective impact. Our student leadership team and interns also represented Dragonfly both on and off the courts by competing throughout the tournament.

One unforgettable moment came when a young girl returned to our booth with handmade bracelets after visiting us the day before—a reminder that small conversations can leave a lasting impact.

Events like Waupaca Boatride show how tournament hosts can make a meaningful difference by bringing athlete mental health into the heart of the event.
